HOL 391 Breaks April Fundraising Record to Support Autism Speaks

Teamwork makes the dream work, and it played a critical role in allowing our Lodge to raise more money for Autism Speaks than ever before, in 2019.

The Brothers at the 2019 Autism Speaks Miami Walk

The Brothers of Hialeah Opa-Locka-Lodge No. 391 have participated in the Autism Speaks Miami Walk for five years. Every year, the Brothers team up with Autism Speaks with the help of family, friends and coworkers, to raise funds for autism research and awareness. The funds raised help the families of people living with Autism and help make advances in research related to finding solutions for those within the autism spectrum.

In previous years, our Lodge raised between $250 to $750 for the organization and participated in the annual walk to show our support for this wonderful cause. However, with new tools available through social media and a considerable amount of support and participation from the public, we were able to exponentially increase the size of this year's donation, bringing the total amount raised to over $2,200.

Getting ready for the walk

The Worshipful Master of our lodge said, "Whether through modest donations or by participating in the walk, you helped spread awareness in some form or another. The Brothers of Hialeah-Opa-Locka Lodge No. 391 have made this one of our main charities, year after year, to help serve and support our community. Each year our donations to Autism Speaks have consistently doubled, with this year nearly tripling!!!! Wow! For that, I thank you all!"

The Brothers with their families

The funds were raised throughout the month of April with last minute donations coming in just hours prior to the Autism Speaks Walk held at Doral Central Park on Sunday, April 28, 2019. The event provided an opportunity for Brothers to bring their families out and walk together in support of Autism Speaks.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this cause and helped our Lodge help others. Charity is one of the pillars of our fraternity, and with your help we will hopefully help make a difference in the lives of many.
