Hialeah-Opa-Locka Lodge No. 391 teams up with Good Deeds Miami to Feed the Need

When most of us speak of charity, instinct causes us to think about donating money toward a cause or to a charitable foundation of some sort. The act of giving can also come in the form of time, and what better way to donate your time than by feeding those in need.

The Brothers of Hialeah-Opa-Locka Lodge No. 391 took some time on Sunday, May 19th, 2019 to participate in the “Feed the Need” event hosted by Good Deeds Miami. Brothers and their families to Gibson Park, in Miami, where they joined other good Samaritans from the South Florida area to prepare and distribute warm meals, water and donated clothing items to the homeless.

This marks the second time, this year, the HOL 391 has given to the less fortunate in our community. Earlier this year, the Brothers cleaned out their closets and donated old and used clothing to the Vietnam Veterans Association, to give back to the men and women who have served our country but fallen on hard times.

As Freemasons, charity is and always has been a very profound aspect of our fraternity as we endeavor to promote the betterment of our society. In so doing, it becomes incumbent upon us to give back whenever and however we are able. Whether it’s through monetary means or through a dedication of time and service, we all strive to make our community a better place and pay it forward when we can.

Event organizers host give back events on a semi-monthly and sometimes monthly basis. Their mission is to bring young people together and provide an avenue to help others, but they need help with supplies and funds to continue carrying out their mission.
